To take advantage of this service, you should know the basics of how to use a word processor, and the basics of how to surf the Internet. We can teach you the rest.

Things To Consider

• It is important to have an idea of what you want your website to achieve. Who are you trying to reach, and what do you have to offer them?
• How will people find your web site? An important part of building a website is having it indexed by search engines. About one third of the visitors to this site found us by searching.
• Do you want an address that is easy to remember? You may want to register a domain name, like www.bushpc.com.au.
• Unless you have a permanent high speed connection to the Internet, you will need to have someone else host your web site. (This site is hosted by KangaWeb.)
• What kind of statistics do you want from your website?
• Most Australian ISPs will provide a small amount of web space free with each Internet account. You may already have an empty web site and not know it.
• How big will your site be? This affects how quickly it displays, and can also affect your ongoing costs.

Costs

We aim to get you a presence on the Internet for around $1000, depending on your needs. If you can afford it, we'll recommend commercial web building tools. If you can't, we can suggest free tools available on the Internet.

You should have at least two days spare to spend with us. In that time we'll run through the material in our Frontpage and Web Publishing classes, and help you use that knowledge to build your site.

You'll get a lot better value from our time if you spend a little time preparing. That just means knowing what you want to say, and having plenty of pictures.
