If you call us and the call drops out, give us a few minutes and call back. We may be able to seek better reception.
Both phones are able to notify us if we miss a call. The mobile is usually able to record the number you called from. The mobile can receive SMS (text) messages, but cannot send them.
There is no voice mail service on the satellite phone. There is a voice mail service on the mobile phone, but Telstra deletes messages after three days. Since we are often out of mobile range for extended periods, we may not receive voice mail messages left on the mobile service.
We aim to have at least one of the phones turned on from 9:00 AM until 4:00 PM, Monday to Friday. Which one is determined by coverage. We suggest trying the mobile first, then the satellite.
If we only have satellite coverage, the UHF radio is usually also turned on to provide a cheaper alternative for nearby customers. When travelling, the UHF is on 40 on highways, and scan on tracks.
